IT’S NOT OVER YET! 2021 Reminders for Motorcycle Riders

February 25, 2025
Happy New Year everyone! Last year was really tough. At the beginning of the year we had earthquakes and volcano eruptions, then Covid-19 came in and is still wrecking havoc in our lives, then we had typhoons, the list just goes on for 2020. And it is a relief that the year is over. Now on to 2021.

This year has a lot of promise. The most prominent is the arrival of the COVID vaccine. Everyone is expecting and hoping that we will have our "old" normal lives back once the vaccine hits the market and everyone is safe from the virus. Parties, gatherings, travel and so much more are all lined up for the grand arrival of that day.

HOWEVER, we’re not there yet. There’s no vaccine yet available to the general public. The IATF rules are still in play. And safety is still as big a concern now as last year for everyone. So, here are some reminders for this year 2021 especially for riders:

  1. Ride a motorcycle and avoid commuting. Social distancing is still the law and for practical reasons. Riding a motorcycle is still the 2nd best way to protect yourself as you travel daily to and from work. It keeps you at a distance from other people. And it forces you to wear a mask and helmet the whole time.
  2. Buy a motorcycle only from a reputable dealer. Choose a dealer that thinks of you first and helps you with social distancing and safety as you purchase your motorcycle. The last thing you want is to bring home a brand new bike AND some COVID viruses to your family. Buy a motorcycle from a dealer like Wheeltek.
  3. Buy only the best brand motorcycles. A good motorcycle will not break down easy. It will not need repairs even when it’s old. It will keep you running as you planned. And no visit to the moto shop for repairs means no exposure to other people – keeping you safe. Buy only brands like Harley-Davidson, Honda, Husqvarna, Ducati, Kawasaki, KTM Suzuki, TVS or Yamaha. You cannot go wrong with their bikes.
  4. Maintain social distancing. At all times, nothing beats distance to avoid COVID. Especially when you are in the open air. Keep distance all the time even among friends and colleagues so you don’t expose yourself and your family to risk. This is where riding motorcycles come in when talking about travel. Commuting forces you to be in close proximity with strangers for extended periods of time.
  5. Keep wearing a mask even when riding. Masks are still the best tool we can use to protect ourselves from COVID no matter where we are or what we’re doing. Don’t just use a cloth mask. Use a proper medical mask that keeps viruses from entering your nose and mouth.
  6. Live healthy. Many, many stories have been heard about how easily healthy people overcome COVID when they get infected. Eat well. Sleep well. Exercise. Drink lots of water. Take lots of vitamins. Being healthy keeps COVID away and keeps it at bay. Remember these 6 things in 2021. The fight is not over yet. The waiting is not over yet. But be patient. Sooner or later, we will all get back to our old normal where we can remove the masks and sit close to strangers in a restaurant and chat with them without fear.

Stay Safe. Ride Safe. God bless you all. From your friends at Wheeltek.
