Harley-Davidson and the Pan America in the Philippines

February 26, 2025
Harley-Davidson is a motorcycle name nearly everyone on the planet is familiar with. From its roots in cruisers, choppers, bobbers and baggers to its futuristic Vrods and Livewires, there’s no other name that resounds louder that the HD name; even in the Philippines.

Since the dawn of the dual sport category in 1980, there has been numerous versions by different brands and different displacements. But for Harley Davidson, the Pan America is its first. Built from the ground up with its 1250cc RevolutionTM Max 150 horsepower engine with 128 Nm of torque, this beast of a motorcycle is a two-wheel multi-tool built to endure, designed to explore, and engineered for adventure in all the highways and backroads of our country with room to spare.

The term “rugged” is the word used by Harley-Davidson to describe their creation. And rugged it is with its rider centric upright riding position and mid mounted foot controls, the bike gives the pilot a solid sense of versatility and comfort, on and off-road. This is achieved by Harley-Davidson by designing its engine as part of the structural integrity of the motorcycle chassis, eliminating a traditional frame — which significantly reduces overall weight and keeps the center of gravity low to the ground – an essential element for any adventure rider.

To stay updated in the latest tech, riders can expect a host of features that will make long haul travels a breeze like 5 pre-programmed Ride Modes which can be customized to suit your taste. Slowing at corners, riders will have better control with its Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) and Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS) while speeding away on highways will get you a claimed 381km range which is the equivalent of travelling from Manila to Naga on one full tank!

On long travels like these, creature comforts are essential for any rider. Harley Davidson delivers on this as well with both front and rear suspension having compression, rebound and preload adjustability so riders can tweak everything to his heart’s content. A 6.8 inch viewable area TFT display is installed with nearly all the data you need – speedometer, gear, odometer, fuel level, clock, trip, low temp alert, side stand down alert, TIP over alert, cruise, range and tachometer indication. Whew! If you love information, this one is for you. And lastly, to stay in touch with the world while you’re nowhere to be found, a bluetooth hands free link is ready to connect to your phone anytime while riding.

At the bottom end where the rider’s relationship with the asphalt (or dirt as it may be) is crucial, Harley-Davidson installed their trademark Michelin Scorcher on its 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast aluminum rims that give gets the job done whatever the terrain. And to keep rocks and inundations at bay, a ground clearance of 210mm was done just to make sure the rider doesn’t get stuck anywhere in the mountains.
